A glass walkway from the Koi Pond leads dramatically into the boutique hotel, Casa Bella. The colossal work of art with a 10-guest capacity, houses 3 ocean view rooms and 2 ocean view suites with breathtaking views, seclusion and exclusivity. The suites are perfect for honeymooners vacationing. They feature marble clad baths, vanity rooms and a private balcony. As a whole Casa Bella is also suitable for events like weddings and birthdays.

Founded in 2007 by the Giovando’s, Almanara prides in its top-class services which include free airport transfers, free breakfast, infinity pool, access to the beach, personal chef, butler service, and complimentary Wi-Fi. All this availed while creating a feel of home away from home keeping in tune with the Giovando family spirit. 

The garden villas bring an opulent feel of African ambience, local artwork, merged with modern amenities like telephony. Guests hosted in the villas required to easily access services like in-room breakfast after a long night of festivities or on-call butler. This resulted in the need for a modern telephony system that would help ease communication and movement ensuring guests were always comfortable. The air-conditioned villas, suitable for couples and families, feature en-suite bedrooms on two floors, with an open dinning plan, roof top terrace perfect for sundowners and serene views of Shimba Hills, pool bar and swimming pool area. We provisioned 6 IP phones in the villas that can connect directly to the Reception, Sails Restaurant, Kitchen, Bar, Gym and pool area.

As a key offering, Almanara prides in complimentary Free Wi-Fi just like most hotels, resorts and villas. But what sets it ahead of the park is the WiFi quality. Prior to Talinda’s engagement in this project, the staff and guests complained a lot about poor connectivity, low speed and latency. There were multiple dead spots which would lead to guests sticking around areas they felt the “signal” was stronger. 

Talinda came in to troubleshoot the network. We separated the Guest and Management into two separate networks to ensure the Guest and Staff Wi-Fi to share internet bandwidth separately ensuring more balanced usage. There was a total of 28 access points installed in the Administration, Sails Restaurant and the Villas configured on 2.4G and 5.8G radios. After running various heat maps, we added just one Ubiquiti access point to the network, restoring the quality of internet ensuring staff services and guest services are delivered efficiently to ensure a comfortable stay.

The network was quite stable for new IP telephony infrastructure in which we installed 27 IP phones in total in the Villas, Admin offices, TV rooms, Gate, Sails Restaurant, Pool area, etc. The phones would be connected by one IP PBX expandable to a capacity of 300 extensions, remotely managed and configurable. The phones would ease both internal (intercom) and external communication at Almanara. Furthermore, the villas have significantly cut costs on telephone bills in the past month since the installation.

Lastly, we worked on cable management and fiber splicing, upgrading the switches from non-PoE to PoE. There are total of 11 switches (24-48 port) distributed in the server room which hosts the fiber core switches and collection switches. Access switches sit in the Sails and Villas. We organized the cabling from end to end, rooms to the server room as well as did labeling, testing, configuration and termination.
